2008 Open Day
Easter bank holiday saw our joint Open Day with PowerStation and it proved a huge hit the enthusiasts. Despite the cold weather several hundred people arrived to take part in the day’s activities which included a free Rolling Road and a chance to speak too many of our suppliers. New Road Tax changes
Alistair Darling has recently unveiled changes to vehicle excise duty, giving a more detailed reclassification of Road Tax based on the levels of carbon dioxide vehicles emit. We have updated our website with how this will affect some of our popular models like the latest Subaru Impreza S-GT, Subaru Legacy GT and Honda Civic Type-R. We have tried to make a clear 4-Year plan so customers can make a confident and informed choice about their next car.

2008 Subaru STI Development continues
With the recent changes to the Road Tax in mind we continue to work on improved Emissions results for the MY08 JDM STI. Using the latest Maha emissions testing equipment we are now able to accurately plot the cars emissions over the EuroIV driving cycle in-house.

Whilst we have cars undergoing our emissions program we also have other development cars begin put through their paces on both road and track. Our STI has been driven back to back with some of the latest and greatest performance cars on the market and has performed extremely well. Japanese performance magazine drove one development car very early in our testing and proclaimed it to be “the best 2.0 Impreza they had ever driven”. Not bad for a car at the start of the development cycle and one that we’ve already significantly improved. Their full review is featured on our website press page.
Another well respected journalist recently sampled the car alongside our Nissan GTR and other supercars and was amazed by the STI’s engine response and chassis balance.
Current MY08 STI parts under development or testing include:
- Revised chassis and steering setup
- AST suspension
- Front mounted intercooler
- Dump valve
- Cold air induction kit
- Turbo intake pipe
- Type-20 Turbo kit
- Front strut brace
- Oil breather/separator
- Coolant tank
- Power steering tank
- Exterior Styling parts
Litchfield imports were recently invited down to the Top Gear test track by McLaren Cars so they could sample the JDM STI. There chief test driver was extremely impressed with our development car which set a superb time around the famous test track.

UK/Euro Specification Milltek exhaust system
Along with developing the Japanese 2.0 Impreza upgrades we have also worked with Milltek to produce a new 3” High performance exhaust for the UK and European STI range. This 3” Turbo back system features 3 silencers, a Motorsport 100cell Catalytic convertors and stylish tail pipe. Not only is this system environmentally friendly it also helps release extra performance from the 2.5 engine whilst keeping a subtle but purposeful exhaust note.
As with all our Milltek systems it is made with the highest quality aircraft-grade stainless steel and manufactured to tight ISO 9001 quality controlled standards. The new exhaust also offers a substantial weight saving over original system.
Final testing is under way but we expect power levels for the new STI to increase from the standard 296bhp to around 340bhp. Because of the systems free flowing design the STI will also require an Ecutek ECU reprogram to insure the very best performance and reliability.
A similar system is also available for the very latest UK 2.5 WRX models.
