Time Attack round 2
Round 2 took place at a blisteringly hot Silverstone and it was another successful day for the Type-25 Race car. Read the full report on our updated website which also features pictures and a video from the day.

Nurburgring 24 Hour Race
The 18th of June saw the start of the world famous Nurburg 24hour race and this year Litchfield Imports and Powerstation had a hand in the Subaru entrant, supplying aero parts and Milltek twinscroll exhaust system for evaluation. Testing in MIRA's wind tunnel for example confirmed STI's claim that the front Lipspoilers, which are standard on the Type-20/25, reduce front lift by over 30%. Powerstation have supplied AST race suspension as fitted to our race and road cars and also AST air jacks. AST also had a number of other entrants running including Ford Motorsport, SEAT and a huge number of independent teams.
The Subaru entrant was run by Autosportif with support directly from STI and featured on the Subaru website (www.subaru-global.com). STI also arranged for their World Rally Car driver Chris Atkinson to be part of the formidable driver line up which included BTTC driver Phil Bennet, ex-F3 champion Alan van de Mewre and Nurburg regular Jonathan Price. The car is entered into the SP6 class for cars of 3001-3500cc and two-litre turbo-equipped cars.

Last year Subaru entered a near standard Spec C driven by Japanese journalists came 2nd in its class.
Leaving work late on Tuesday Iain and Curtis took the Litchfield Demo Subaru Forester STI on a cross country run to the famous Circuit. The Forester STI proved the perfect vehicle to use, loaded with parts and despite the high cruising speeds its' tall gearing (100mph+ is only 3,500rpm) and remapped ECU meant that it returned an excellent 28mpg.
The following day we met up with Richard Meaden (Evo Magazine), Patrick Hong (US Road & Track Magazine) and Peter Duke (Duke Videos) who were all taking part in the race. Richard and Patrick were invited out by Maserati and were competing along side famous racer Jaque LaVeet in the Maserati cup car.

The event was truly spectacular and a must for any petrol head. Over 240 cars took part in practice and qualifying with the fastest 210 starting the race.
The Autosporif Subaru had a number of small problems which cause them issues throughout the race. When the car ran as intended it was quick with all the drivers posting similarly fast times. However non-standard turbo problems caused a lot of time to be lost in the pits. Speaking to the team I'm sure the knowledge gained will be invaluable and will set them up well for the coming short endurance races of the series.
The Subaru team were delighted with the AST suspension which performed without fault around the demanding 24km circuit. "Chassis-wise, the car is absolutely perfect, high-speed stability again a point of praise from all those in the car" - Official STI spokes man. AST will be working closely with the team to further improve the cars handling. This suspension is the same as our race car and will be a standard on a new Special edition model we hope to launch next month.
Full write-ups can be found on Subaru's website (www.subaru-msm.com/global/news/archive.html)
AST had an extremely successful race with many high placed finishers including the class winning Focus ST.

Richard and Patrick's Maserati finished a superb 37th overall and 5th in there class. There will be a full write up in the next issue of Evo Magazine.
It was a superb event and both we look forward to taking part ourselves in the near future.
