JDM Honda Civic Type-R is here!
The first Civic Type-R arrived in the country in late June and we quickly started work. Chassis setup was checked and the car was run on the Dyno to access the engine performance. This caused a surprise as despite only a handful of miles the new K20A engine pushed out an impressive and repeatable 237bhp. This is some 15bhp over the Honda factory claim!
Now the car is here the new Civic Type-R drives better than we had hoped. Honda has really improved the car over there last great Type-R, the DC5 Integra. The engine is superb and sounds fantastic especially reving to over 8,900rpm! Everyone who has driven it has commented on how sharp the steering feels and how good the handling is.
We will shortly have a number of performance products for the car including:
- Performance Air Intake kit
- Upgraded Inlet hose kit
- AST Suspension upgrade
JDM Civic Type-R in the Press
Over the last week the Civic Type-R has been driven by a number of high profile magazines including Autocar and Evo Magazine. Both magazines really enjoyed the Civic and welcomed the return to more driver focused Honda.

The Autocar magazine review can be read on their website now and will be in the Wednesday 11th of July issue.

Evo Magazine should have the Civic on the Front cover and had a detailed report planned for the next issue.
Civic Type-R passes Euro4 emissions tests
Whilst our demonstrator was being used by the press we prepared another Civic Type-R for the strict Euro4 emissions testing and Model Report creation. Our years of experience with the complicated ESVA testing scheme meant that we are the only company to have passed this Type Approval requirement.
The creation of the model report means that we can now register these exciting new models for UK roads. We will also be allowing selected dealers to hire the report.
Litchfield Imports get invited to meeting with Department of Transport
Iain Litchfield was one of a few Industry specialists, along with VOSA, who were invited to the Department of Transport in London. They were asked to attend a meeting to discuss the proposed European Directive that will replace the Enhanced Single Vehicle Approval (ESVA). Iain was asked to give his thoughts on how this new scheme would be run and enforced prior to its signing off later this year and implementation in 2009.
New scheme will see vehicle importation and testing further tightened in what should be the most comprehensive testing and Type Approval scheme in Europe.
If you have any questions about our product range please feel free to contact us at anytime.
