Type-20 Testing

Our Type-20 prototype has been driven back to back with some of the latest and greatest performance cars on the market and has performed extremely well. Japanese performance magazine drove one development car very early in our testing and proclaimed it to be “the best 2.0 Impreza they had ever driven”. Not bad for a car at the start of the development cycle and one that we’ve already significantly improved. Their full review is featured on our website press page.
Another well respected journalist recently sampled the car alongside our Nissan GTR and other supercars and was amazed by the STI’s engine response and chassis balance.

Nissan GTR
We benchmarked the last Type-25 against the performance of the incredible Porsche 997 Turbo and so did Nissan. After 6 years in development Nissan have shaken up the Supercar market with this truly outstanding R35 GTR. With 475bhp and one of the most advanced 4wd chassis ever created it makes the perfect performance target. Iain Litchfield had the first GTR into the UK and it has given us plenty of time to understand this amazing machine.
2007 Type-25 A-Line
Our 2007 Type-25 was the combination of a huge amount of development over the years and in A-line form many felt it was the perfect Q-car; with Supercar slaying power and handling but wrapped in a sober and subtle body. The best Impreza we have built.
2008 Civic Type-R
The Japanese Civic Type-R has been a revelation. Probably the best chassis we have worked with, no fancy control systems just a simple setup that works exceptionally well. On Circuit the Type-R’s chassis and power delivery are astonishing allowing the driver to eke out every last drop of performance in a fabulous blend of engine rpm and chassis balance. The superb 246bhp 2.0 normally aspirated engine also defines throttle response.
2007 Subaru Impreza Spec C RA-R
Without doubt the best factory produced Impreza and a fine way for the previous model to sign out. Just 250 of these cars were built and we have had the privilege to own a few. STI have brought everything they know about the Imprezas chassis, removing the weaknesses and capitalised on the strengths to produce this amazing machine. Significant changes to the chassis, some similar to our Type-25 modifications, have endowed the RA-R with a natural balance and fluidity that we will aim to replicate in our MY08 development.
Together these wonderful cars have helped us appreciate what areas we need to improve the already good MY08STI.
